It's my nature by Kyena It's my nature by Kyena
"First I need
That's what you get for falling in love
Then you bleed
You get a little but it's never enough
On your knees
That's what you get for falling in love
And now this boy's addicted cause your kiss is the drug"

This piece is somewhat autobiographic - I am going through a tough phase in my life and drawing has always been a way of expressing myself. With all the commissions I didn't really have time to draw something for myself. I know - it's not the most original concept but it is somewhat what I wanted to draw to feel better..

No I am not a blood sucking succubus in real life ;) It's metaphoric!

That expression, those eyes... theres a lot going on in there and I wonder if anyone dare get close enough to find out :O I think she needs a brave soul to stand up to her and her demon, really good stuff!

I love this piece not even sure kinda speaks to me on a subliminal level somehow??
meLodyCatt Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2007
the fact you added strings on her hair put there some brightness and good detail - it captures the look to her expression. like the texture on the bodice and the overall folds. just think the collar's a bit to out of the siege - should be more to the left (character's right). and i guess that's kinda it. good job ;)

very nice with great expressive qualities to her countenance The details are wonderfully done A very real feel - a picture that really could paint a thousand words and make you believe they are of a real soul somewhere out there in the world, both bitter and a little lost.

That is how it looks to me.

It's certainly one of the most inspiring portraits. Her eyes disclose so many emotions. The background fits the general mood of the picture very well.

OH LOVELY POEM!!..... wow, amazing. i love the vampiresess's outfit... or succubus. but i think that maybe you should've made her skin a bit more chalky white pale glory instead of that transparent fix you've got on it. ah, but oh well.

The text is actually from a Bon Jovi song :D

You're not a blood-sucking succubus?...
Pity... you'd make a good one.

I think so far this is the one of your pictures I like best. Gives me inspiration for something I should have done a long time ago. Thanks. Goes to my favourite list.

Nice concept and very well done. But i think that the rigth shoulder and a part of the right arm is missing - i can`t see it.

But i like your dark style, very nice!

Bye, Amir.

Funny - this is an older piece and took me no time at all to finish - but then it's only in 72 dpi :)
My pre-print phase ;)

I love the facial expression, makes the picture for me. 72 Dpi isn't bad. I'll rarely draw anything in a resolution over 1000x1000, my ram dies XD.

I noticed that it is much more work to paint in highres - but you can also be much sloppier - as soon as you size it down it wont show :D

A great example are Hennings "fast work". He always says it's sloppy and it might be in parts at the 100% Version but it still looks totally awesome as print and sized down. (Even though I don't really agree with his definition of sloppy ;))

That expression sets this piece apart from any other such pose- it gives it that meaning you sought to express and allow yourself to release. Poignant, almost hard to get too close to... Amazing work.

I have been looking at the full view of this one for quite a while now...:omg:
I like everything about it, the texture of the clothes, the shading of the face, the expression and the the whole concept of this piece of art.I don't know if it has something to do with the clima :snowing: but I have noticed that people from central or northern Europe have a tendency to create works of this style. I don't think that it is a matter of coincidence that Expressionism in Cinema was born and advanced in this particular area of the world.
Please, let me know what you think...;)

For some reason I really like it too..I didn't plan on this it just - crawled - out of nowhere while I was painting along :)

Okay, so first of all.....using Bon Jovi lyrics as part of your description? Multo Bene! I didn't fully recognize it until the last line, and now Bad Medicine will be stuck in my head all day - which is not a bad thing at all. It's been a long time since I've heard Bon Jovi. Anyway, enough with my rambling.

This came out so great! It's all about textures....the textures on her face, clothes and on the background rock! All the little touches you added just make it so special...the shiny filagree, her necklace, the blood tear, the beads in her hair. That is one cool blouse, I want one! I'm sorry that you felt so overwhelmed. I hope that things have gotten better since then.

And now, because I always try to give a good critique when it is asked for...I see what Malach was saying - the neck looks to be a little too thick. What is that black circle right underneath her chin? She must be wearing a turtleneck of some kind, but it looks a bit off. Eh, but those are just nitpicky, because as a whole, I love it!
