Isn't that supposed to be Euron Crow's Eye? I always thought he used an axe, like all the other Ironborn, especially if this scene is supposed to be the 'finger dance', in which case it would definately be an axe. Of course it could be someone else, in which case I apologize.

This is Euron Greyjoy, I think, also called Crow's Eye.

This is one of my favorite Greyjoy portraits, he's fierce.

Great use of lights and shadows here, they set a very gloomy atmosphere. Nice work on metallic textures too ^^

:) What a facial expression... :P

Anyway, I am pretty sure that, at the way his right hand is angled away, the sword 'end' point (the tip of the sword) should be pointing further down, along the line of the shoulder (heightwise), and a bit more than twice as far away from his face compared to now.

Texture and lighting's very nice, just the arms that are a bit strange, but they are in an extremely difficult position too. Don't be too hard on yourself. :)

Ahh, here he is! Expression of the face is absolutelly fantastic and overall feeling is quite a dynamic. But somehow I can't dig his body especially his right arm with sword. It looks broken, crippled or out of joint :sneeze: I think it would be good to fix it and maybe re-define it (the metallic look isn't good here either).

If I would split this image diagonally, from UL corner to BR. The upper triangle is absolutelly extellent and worth for :+favlove:

I totally agree on the right arm (well our left?) I couldn't really figure out what it would look with the armor and all and the foreshortening.

Yep, our left

Have you tried to mirror the image to see the error ? Maybe it would help you to find better position of the hand.
Personally I think the elbow is way to much in front of the body so it looks more like some invisible agressor is standing behind him and just held his hand before he hit :teleport::jedi:

yep - I tend to flip it a lot during painting.
It's just extremely hard to pull that anatomically off and also think of how the armor works. I chose a strange angle too (I can't say I am used to make it easy on myself ;))

:surrender: anatomy anatomy. Can't mention how huge problems I have with it.

Somehow I feel the most problemmatic is when you paint only part of the body. Without seeing the rest of the character, it's harder to uncover the physical error :sherlock:, especially in such dynamic pose.

It's supposed to be very good. I started reading the first book years ago but never found the time to actually read further.
I am painting for the trading card game not the books themselves btw.

His right arm looks kind of funny to me, but maybe that's because of the cloth that is draping over it. I also noticed that his teeth kind of look like wood, heh. He's doing a George Washington thing I guess. I bet the ladies like him. Anyways, I'll shut up now.

Just wanted to say that you did a superb job on the armor. It's absolutely gorgeous.

No, his arm is quite off..
I don't think the teeth are that big an issue. I figure they don't have that much tooth blender stuff during that time ;)

Gorgeous work on the face, tascha... I love the texture of his hair, resisting the urge to make it full and voluminous has given it a great edge of reaness. And I know what you mean about digitally colouring metal is one of the most laborious tasks (yet oddly traditionally it is one of the easiest for me). I have to ask... is he holding his beard? If not, the point his hand and beard meet is very coincidental! And I know you're probably fininshed with the piece, but I think just a little more shadow on the right hand side of his breast plate and arm chainmail would really make it pop out in a more 3D way. But a small crit, as overall the lighting and pose work really well. Another great work, and nice to see a male figure too.

he is actually making a fist. I already worked it over a bit and shortened the beard so it's not so confusing - thanks for the feedback :)
I know his pose (right side/our left) is off..I am not sure if I have the patience to fix it though >_<

Such a great job on the armor! The texture reminds me of metal well worn and pitted from use. Completely perfect for such a character. The chainmail is ace. :D

I normally paint armor that looks used. After all it's supposed to be used in battle. For some reason I don't like those overly shiny armors that looked as if they get polished every day.
