I've never seen such a tempting stare in a painting before! You've managed to offer us an amazing chance at eye contact with one of your characters. I know I wouldn't be able to stop myself falling into a grip, even though I would be wary. Love the way the hand is faded, makes me feel like she already has me and i'm moving in to join her already, like I don't have a choice.
Wow. Just wow... Thats all that came to mind at first. Amazing work.
The anatomy is fantastic, very realistic and WOW. The hand, the curve of the writst, the arm, shoulder, neck. Wow.
And of course the face, body and pose of the model is amazing. Her 'outfit' is great. A very realistic womans body under the exoskeleton, which is something we dont see enough of. She looks as if she's right there, beconing from the paper wasps nest.
Oh wow! Kyena, I had no idea you had a deviant gallery! I've admired your stuff for a while over on CGTalk. I have to say, ths piece still has that amazing wow factor whenever I see it, and to say you work without reference too... just wow. Her eyes are most amazingly done, though I'd say that's your speciality, along with depth of field, even Linda Bergkvist can't do depth of field in the same way you do. Oh and colour, you make me wilt in envy with your expert use of colour.
I guess thats just a really long winded way of saying I love your work. ^.^
Tutorials can't teach everything..there is still the basic understanding of the form beneah (such as bone structure and so on).
For example - a wolf tutorial wouldn't help me much right now because I first have to figure out and understand the subject itself.
I don't agree at all that she is expressionless. That open-mouthed stare is a primal symbol of lust, and I wouldn't have you change it. Likewise the hand, beckoning. It is just great, and everybody I have showed it to (my wife, my sons, and two out of four dogs) have loved it.
