Little update!

Mon Aug 16, 2010, 11:42 AM

Nope sorry, not about the painting progress but that will follow hopefully soon.
I am in overdrive and full of energy, so stay tuned!

I started a new blog, which is not about painting, since that is what my website is for, but about fitness and health. Now that I am done with my first round of P90X I have more time since Insanity is not as time demanding as the P which leaves me soon with more time to paint.

So much energy, not enough time!
For those who want to take a peak: www.tascha.ch/fitness/
It's in its infant steps but will hopefully grow at a steady pace.

Hope everyone is doing great :)

EDIT: I moved the domain and blog to my own domain and updated with quite a few new posts at www.tascha.ch/fitness/

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Dropkick murphys
  • Reading: Navy Seal's Handbook
  • Watching: Buffy Season 4 (again)
  • Playing: Various I-Phone Games
  • Eating: Soon: Brown Rice Bowl
  • Drinking: Water

It sure is - the sad thing is that you won't realize until you actually are fitter :)
Or the good thing maybe, since you don't really know what you are missing :p

I do like the blog layout and design, but what really made my day is how wonderfully well you are with this lifestyle.

As I have a few fitness related health issues my doctor is nagging me about, I copied your notes.

That's what I am trying to preach to my friends too. That diets don't work but if you decide to change your lifestyle - it will.
What kind of fitness related issues are those?

:D This may be too much information, but, here goes. For starters, I am about the age of your parents, with pain issues due to degenerating discs that manifested similarly to hunger. Since I had been skipping meals (sound familiar :D ?) I would nibble to ease the queasy feeling. Of course that only added pounds, and since I've recognized that I handle the problem differently. Way too many of those pounds, and the added arrival of bone spurs under my Achilles tendons later, I find myself trapped between medical opinions. My regular doctor wants me walking and exercising a lot as well as changing my eating habits, while the specialists who have been telling me not to exercise vigorously - due to the risk if increased damage, are being equally vociferous. :D I never did like catch 22 situations. Then there are those issues that should clear up with the weight loss, the high cholesterol, and the borderline blood pressure, which are also age related gifts from my ancestors.

Well sounds like changing your eating habits and start slowly on the fitness would be a good middle way :)

I wouldn't think going all crazy exercise wise is the way but starting with light training sounds like a good battle plan.

What eating changes did your doctor suggest? And exercise wise - there are always ways to modify and work-around impairments so you can work on other aspects while slowly taking baby steps with the areas that cause problems.

The doctor is referring me to a nutrition specialist so I, hopefully, can get through some dietary land mines. Other than that, I'm going with smaller, healthier, portions, five times a day, and working on walking at a speed that is good for me (which actually means slowing down, for now).

I am blessed/cursed with many doctors and nurses in our family and as our friends, which, I guess, balances out all of the authors and artists/musicians.:D

P90X is 1h to 1.5h (quite time consuming). Insanity right now is more forgiving. It's only around 40 days per day (but any minute more and I would probably drop dead ;))

beachbody.com has other really great programs which are less time consuming.

It's great to hear you are doing well. I am in awe of your strength and motivation, its just so inspiring to see you so full of energy!

The blog itself is also a wonderful read - the positive attitude and energy beaming through your words is really motivating us all to do something with ourselves (bookmarked it!). And I have to say, you look simply stunning. :)

Already updated, the new site is lovely! :-) By the way, did you start with P90 or go straight with P90x? I was thinking to get the program to make my workours more systematic, but don't know which to choose. I'm in a rather good shape except for my arms - I couldn't do more than 2 pushups to save my life. Won't P90x be too extreme? What do you think?

I think you should be fine with P90X. I couldn't do more then 2 normal push-ups either when I started :)

Just "do your best, and forget the rest". That's what everyone does. You'll improve as long as you stick to it.
