Workout!

Tue Apr 6, 2010, 5:52 AM

Long time no see.
So, random question: Anyone having experience with the p90x program?

Edit:
Already some answers, thanks a lot!
Does anyone know how to get it outside of the US or Canada? I have seen it on amazon.co.uk but the resellers don't ship to Greece or anywhere outside the UK it seems.

I really would like the actual program, including the nutrition plan and such.

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Massive Attack
  • Reading: Work related stuff
  • Watching: Clash of the Titans
  • Playing: FF 13
  • Eating: Carrots and Bananas
  • Drinking: Water

I've done P90X for about 3 months now, so, almost at the 90 part. It's not bad, I fell off at month two though, and ended up doing crossfit... But now I'm back into P90X. The lifts in the second part were tough on my joints.

I think the diet that comes with it is the most important part.

One reason I wanted to get it is the fact that it's a whole package including the nutrition program: I already tried a recipe I found online (spicy asian noodles or somesuch, was very yummie).

Did you see any improvement during the program?

I have.

I used to be obese, and I have a lot of hard fat on my body left over. I've tried everything to get it off... But the P90X diet, really helped. I've gotten good results so far :) I plan on doing this for years to come, so I'm in no rush to become super fit.

It really does work though, my brother is doing it too, and he's gotten more visible results than I have.

I hope you find a way to pick it up! It's a good investment.

Oh, one more thing, if you can't find a way to get your hands on P90x, or if you want something to try in the mean time, take a look at these options:

Crossfit: www.crossfit.com
Coupled with the Zone diet: www.zonediet.com

Crossfit is more intense than P90X, as it's tailored to athletes, but I like how short the workouts are (Some are 20 minutes, and many are less than 10). Plus, you can access the crossfit workouts for free.

You can take a look at zone, I'm not sure if they ship to your neck of the woods, but it's an option I guess.

Thanks for the additional sugggestions - I managed to order it through their website now. I missed the "we ship worldwide"-link.
What I wonder - are you doing the supplements too?

I used my own supplements, and need to restock, hehe. I wouldn't suggest going into it P90X without them. I guess the recovery drink from P90X is supposed to be really good.

I use [link]

The protein in this one absorbs really well. I stretch 1 out for about a month and a half. It recommends 3 scoops a day... But 1 to 2 scoops seems to do it for me.

I have P90X, but I got it while still in the US. It`s a good program...wish I was more dedicated lol.

Amazon is probably the best way to get it--going through the website has international charges up the yinyang :/

We are going to watch it next week in 3D! Really looking forward to that as I was a huge fan of the old movie when I was a kid.

I went and saw Clash of the Titans in 2D after reading that they had converted it to 3D latter in the process. It was not shot with 3D cameras for example like Avatar. The 2D version was quite good I thought. Definitely worth seeing.

My dad and brother are doing P90x. It's strict, but they're very healthy. My dad, almost 50, is in the best shape of his life, with 6-pack abs.

The website says they ship worldwide. Beachbody.com. [link]

I don't know what P90x costs, but I know special forces end up doing a lot of their workouts with only their bodies and maybe a pullup bar, and they're practically triathletes. You might try googling Stew Smith, an ex SEAL who now writes workout programs for people wanting to do SF. Depending on your goals it might save you money. Also, in my humble opinion and experience, any exercise you are willing to take to failure will bring about results, especially if you go to failure on all sets.

Of course, I wrote all that thinking you were a guy who might also want to put on muscle mass! Haha. Yeah maybe just go for the P90, or come up with your own plan that targets the areas you want to improve. I don't think there's any magic to working out several days a week and eating well. Anyway, hope this helps.

They actually have slight adjustements to P90X included as suggestions. One that is more focused on Cardio for girls who are afraid to build too much muscles. But honestly, it takes A LOT for a girl to build bulky muscles and I don't see that hapenning with me lol

Very, it is hard though, it's not easy working out every day of the week (if you take the rest day and not stretch you have 6 days instead of 7) if you have a job and a family like i do you will have to manage your schedule, but it is worth it, not only for the result you will get, for us women it's less since we don't develop muscle as fast as men do, but you will see your body getting firmer and if you adjust your eating pattern along side it you will see amazing results, I don't know if you want to loose a lot of weight or just want to become more firm and tight in your skin, I didn't want to loose too much weight, just about 10 kg is fine for me, the first run i didn't loose that much weight but i did loose inches and lots of them! (Remember muscle weighs more then fat!), so forget about your scale and focus on your clothes, how they fit, you WILL get results, you will be sore as hell, man the first week i started i was so sore after Plyometrics i physically felt ill... BUT like i said before it is worth it. Now that I am on my second round I notice I am firming up much faster, I never did the diet, I just cut the "bad" foods and drank water and lots of it, same thing this time around, only now I have decided to totally cut out all soda drinks and juices (which also have a TON of sugar), I stick to tea, coffee and water, have 2 servings of milk (for breakfast and one other) and eat only lean meat, lots of vegetables and fruits. Before I forget I highly suggest you get a good protein shake for after you work out, they are costly but needed, also look into taking extra vitamin supplements. Need any other info I am around and just a pm away ;) I'm also on facebook where there are a lot of P90X supportive clubs and help :)

Good luck and keep Bringing it! :strong:

Sounds like me :)
I don't want or should lose weight, I want to firm, tone and strengthen with the program. I already changed my food habits a lot last year (pretty much what you mentioned above) but I have a bad iron definancy still because I just don't like vegetables such as broccoli or spinach.
I mostly stick to water and tea (and the odd drink here and there while going out).

We have been using Whey Protein shakes in the morning for a while now (I forced Henning to take one too since he doesn't like to eat breakfast - I had to force myself too at the beginning but now I can't start my day without it).

I also now started to make a shake for after the workout for both of us.

Great :D and omg about Protein shakes, if you have the chocolate ones, try adding a whole banana to it one time... to KILL for i swear (unless you dislike banana's lol!) I just did Legs and back this morning, my arms are killing me, I can go a bit overboard lmao!

oh I already noticed the shake with banana, ice and berries - sounds totally delicous :D

I haven't started yet obviously but we got our pull up bar today and I watched a download of the first back and arm program today.
I don't think I will even manage 3 or 5 of those exercises - not to mention going for an hour -.-

How many push-ups and pull ups can you do?
Reply
:icondigital-kisses:
Digital-Kisses Featured By Owner Apr 11, 2010
Well I use the bands instead of the pull up bar, mainly because our house has painted doorframes which are all with ridges etc. So the bands offer a good substitute, I can do 20-25 with the bands, as for push ups, it depends on which ones standard i am around 25-30 the others ones are harder for me, give it time you'll get there ;)

I'm a personal trainer and can tell you that p90x is one of the best if you follow it. The food choices are great as well. I love the program. If you can't afford a trainer three days a week, then p90x is a great option.
